Intestinal Apocalypse is an AI-driven metal project that began as a joke between friends on Discord and somehow kept growing until it became a full-fledged band.
The project started with three friends: John, Alex, and Noah.
In June 2026, on John’s birthday, the three met up at a fried chicken restaurant. John showed them a social media reel where a woman explained the different German phrases people use for having stomach problems. One phrase immediately stood out: “Darmapokalypse” (“intestinal apocalypse”). Noah laughed and said it would make an incredible name for a metal band. Everyone agreed, and what started as a joke quickly became an idea they couldn’t let go.
Later that night, while hanging out on Discord, John found an AI logo generator and created the band’s first logo. The joke kept escalating as he generated an album cover simply to see how far they could take the idea.

Not long afterward, Alex discovered that Google Gemini could generate complete songs. After experimenting with prompts, he created the band’s first track, “Sinking Gables,” a song inspired by stomach problems. Once that first song was finished, ideas started coming rapidly.
The band’s songs soon expanded beyond digestive disasters and drew inspiration from real-life events and inside jokes shared among the group, including:
- Wondering whether a friend would get food poisoning after eating cheap oysters.
- A chaotic party at a park near an anime convention.
- A friend who ended several friendships after being asked to apologize for things they had said.
- Adventures playing Sea of Thieves.
- And countless other ridiculous moments that somehow became metal songs.
While Alex continued generating music, John began experimenting with AI image generators. He started by creating absurd images of the band performing concerts in random places—often inside fast-food restaurant lobbies. Eventually, the concept evolved into performances in trash-filled parking lots.

After refining the prompts, John generated a series of images featuring the band posing in front of a burning Waffle House. One particular image immediately became the group’s favorite and eventually became the visual identity of the band.

Alex later cleaned up the artwork, while John expanded the project by creating the band’s fictional members, writing their backstories, building the website, and developing the overall lore surrounding Intestinal Apocalypse.

What began as a joke among friends has since evolved into an ongoing AI creative project that combines music, artwork, storytelling, and world-building into a fully realized fictional metal band.
