The Scavengers Toll

Salt-crusted iron, the fort walls yield,
Another hollow treasure, another blood-soaked field!
Steel flashes in the dark, the hoard is within reach,
But wolves emerge from the shadows of the beach!

Traitors in the mist!
The colors change, the black flag rises high,
Stealing the plunder while our comrades die!
The hull is splintering, the water floods the gate,
Another shipwreck claimed by the spite of the fate!

(Ughhhhhhh!)

Again! We claw the depths, we seek the golden stain,
But every reach for glory ends in the same pain!
The scavengers are waiting, they watch the horizon burn,
A cycle of the void, a lesson never learned!

The keel is broken, the mast is turned to dust,
We surrender the conquest, we surrender the trust!
Rotgut in the vessel, the fire in the glass,
Watching the empire of the fools come to pass!

No more the hunt, no more the rising tide,
Only the dregs where the failures reside.
